Friends and Lovers of Art, Theater and Live Music,
You won't want to miss these two upcoming performances.
The first is an original play commissioned by Chestnut Square and the McKinney Historic Association and will be performed at the McKinney Performing Arts Center on the Historic Downtown Square on Saturday, September 13. The second is a CD release party for guitarist Quentin Hope at the Granada Theater in Dallas on Sunday, September 28.
The play was written for Barry Corbin to star as Collin McKinney, but just a couple of weeks ago, Barry was offered a made-for-TV movie role that he could not refuse. He personally called and apologized for having to bow out and assured us that his replacement, Richard Privitt would be an even better choice. Privitt has directed and starred in many productions and is part of the Visual Performing Arts College at Texas Tech University.
As many of you know, Andy Wilkinson, who wrote the play, is one of my dear friends. We have collaborated on many things from albums to museum art shows. This play will indeed bring McKinney's history to life through the character of Collin McKinney.
Andy has won many awards world-wide for his music and songwriting, as well as for his plays. His play "Charlie Goodnight's Last Night" premiered at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and has run at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Andy is the artist-in-residence at the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University where he also teaches honors art and songwriting courses.
Collin County History Comes to Life on September 13, 2008 with Richard Privitt as Collin McKinney in the original play, "The Lost Letter" by award winning play write Andy Wilkinson. The one man play will feature Collin McKinney during the Washington on the Brazos constitutional convention. Tickets are $25 for the play, dessert and silent auction and $100 for dinner at Rick's Chophouse, the play, dessert and silent auction. Call the McKinney Performing Arts Center to purchase tickets: 214-544-4630.
Next there's Quinten Hope. It's almost enough that Junior Clark is opening for the show, but the two of them together will bring the house down. But that's not enough either. Will Lee is flying in from New York to be a part of this CD Release celebration. Dan Wojciechowski and Bradley Knight are flying in from their touring locations to be here too. It will be a night of great music. Here's the scoop:
